Fanta Fornah

Fanta became blind at an early age due to measles. Because of her disability, her family considered her to be of no value to them and rejected her. As is often the case for women with disabilities, Fanta was at high risk for sexual abuse. In her late teens, Fanta was raped by her teacher and became pregnant with her daughter. 

Fanta felt hopeless. 

She has seen the life transformation of women around her who have gone through training programs at Women of Hope, and has reached out to the staff of Women of Hope Sierra Leone requesting that she be allowed to join the next Transformation Training class. She wants to experience the joy and dignity she has seen in others as well.
